Velin

Privacy policy

Effective 17 October 2026

Velin is made by Zephy Studio. This policy explains exactly what happens to your information when you use Velin on your iPhone. The short version: your reports, your results and your health data stay on your iPhone. We never see them.

What Velin is

Velin keeps and displays your lab and blood test reports. It does not give medical advice or interpret results.

No account, no tracking

Velin has no account and no sign-in. It shows no ads, contains no analytics or crash reporting tools, and does not track you across apps or websites. It does not use cloud AI: reports are read by your iPhone itself.

What stays on your iPhone

Everything about you:

  • the reports you add (PDFs, scans and photos) and the results Velin reads from them;
  • the people you keep records for, the notes and life events you add, and the medicines you enter;
  • the data Velin reads from Apple Health;
  • your settings, and the list of what you have shared and with whom.

Velin stores this in its own space on your iPhone, encrypted with a key kept in your iPhone's Keychain. Your iPhone's own backups may include this encrypted file, under your control.

Apple Health

Velin uses Apple Health only if you allow it, and only for the kinds of data you choose.

  • It reads results, vital signs (such as glucose, blood pressure, heart rate, heart rate variability, VO2 max, oxygen and temperature), sleep, body measurements, activity and workouts, food and drink logged by your diet app, the medicines and supplements you log, and, only if you turn it on, cycle data. It reads these to show them beside your lab results.
  • It writes only glucose values that appear in your lab reports, so they show in Health too. You can remove them in Velin at any time.
  • Health data read by Velin is never sent anywhere, never used for advertising or marketing, and never sold.

The only things that leave your iPhone

  1. Anonymous lookups of unfamiliar test names. When a report contains a test Velin doesn't recognise yet, it can look up that test's printed name (for example “Lipoprotein (a)”) and the unit printed beside it, so the test can be added to Velin's test dictionary. Nothing else is sent: never a result, a range, a date, your name, the lab's name, the report, or any identifier for you or your iPhone. Names are sent one at a time, at a random time up to a day later, mixed with lookups of ordinary test names, only on Wi-Fi, and never twice. Names that could be personal (for example people's names, dates or long numbers) are never sent. Our lookup service, run by Zephy Studio on Cloudflare at dictionary.zephystudio.com, keeps only the test name, its unit, a count and the day it was first seen. It keeps no IP addresses and no request logs. Like any internet request, the network carries your device's IP address to Cloudflare; the service does not read or store it. You can turn lookups off in Settings at any time, which also forgets any names waiting to be looked up.
  2. Dictionary updates. About once a day Velin may download updates to its test dictionary from the same service. These files are the same for everyone, carry nothing about you, and are signed so your iPhone only accepts genuine updates.
  3. Purchases. Subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details.

Sharing is always your choice

Velin never shares anything by itself. When you choose to share, Velin makes a file on your iPhone (a PDF, a CSV, a health records file or an encrypted backup) and hands it to the share sheet, or shows a clean screen you hand to someone. What you send, and where, is up to you. Once a file has left your iPhone, it is held by whoever receives it. Velin keeps a list of what you have shared, visible only to you.

Children

Velin is meant for adults. You can keep records for family members, including children, on your own iPhone.

Your control

You can delete any report, result or person in Velin, turn Apple Health access off in the Health app or Settings, turn anonymous lookups off, and delete everything by deleting the app. Because we hold nothing about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on our side.

App Store privacy label

Velin's App Store label says “Data Not Linked to You: Health & Fitness”. This refers to the anonymous test names described above, which are not linked to you.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app.
