Wildwit

Privacy policy

Effective 28 September 2026

The short version

Wildwit asks children aged 8 to 15 to play a short quest before opening apps a parent has chosen. Everything Wildwit knows about your child stays on their iPhone or iPad. Zephy Studio never receives it. There is no account to sign up for, and we don't run servers that collect anything from the app.

The only thing that can ever leave the device is anonymous game data (a Game Center nickname, weekly XP, daily-challenge scores and achievements), sent to Apple's Game Center, and only if you switch Friends on.

What stays on the device

Your child's nickname, age band and school year, every answer, accuracy, skill levels, XP, coins, streaks, achievements, their buddy and outfits, your gate rules (daily limit, quiet hours, minutes per quest) and your parent passcode (stored only as a scrambled hash in the device's Keychain). iOS data protection encrypts it all.

We never ask for a real name, birthdate, email address, phone number, photo or location.

How the gate uses Apple's Screen Time

Wildwit uses Apple's Screen Time framework to hold apps closed until a quest is done. You choose the apps with Apple's own picker. Apple gives Wildwit only anonymous tokens for them, so Wildwit (and Zephy Studio) never learns which apps, websites or categories you picked.

The weekly usage chart in the parent area is drawn by Apple's Screen Time report inside the device. Wildwit can't copy or send that data, and doesn't.

If you set Wildwit up through Family Sharing, you approve it with your Apple Account, and your child can't remove the app or switch the gate off without you. Apple's own Screen Time limits keep working alongside Wildwit.

How Wildwit learns the age band

On devices that support it, Wildwit asks Apple's Declared Age Range feature which band your child is in (8–9, 10–12 or 13–15). Apple shares only the band, not a birthdate. Otherwise you pick the band during setup. The band sets how hard the first questions are and how the app talks, and it stays on the device.

Notifications

When your child taps “Start quest” on the Screen Time screen, Wildwit shows a notification that opens the quest. It is created on the device; nothing is sent over the internet. Wildwit never sends reminders about streaks, missed days or friends.

Friends and leaderboards (off unless you switch them on)

Friends is off by default. If you turn it on in the parent area, Wildwit uses your child's Apple Game Center account to show weekly and daily-challenge leaderboards with their Game Center friends. What is shared: their Game Center nickname, weekly XP, daily-challenge score and achievements. Nothing else, and never answers, subjects, school year or app usage.

Game Center is run by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, and Apple's Screen Time settings for Game Center (friends, multiplayer) still apply. Wildwit has no chat, messages or free text between children.

What Wildwit connects to

Only Apple: the App Store for purchases, Game Center if you switch Friends on, and Apple's crash reports if you have chosen to share them with app developers in your device's settings. Wildwit contacts no other service.

Links in Wildwit's Help screen open in Safari only when tapped, behind a grown-up question.

What we don't do

No advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs and no selling or sharing of data. No profiling off the device. The questions adapt to your child using data that never leaves the device.

Purchases

Payment for Wildwit Plus is handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details. A subscription can be shared with your family through Family Sharing, and Ask to Buy applies to child accounts.

Children's privacy

Because Wildwit collects no personal information and sends none to us, we hold nothing about your child to access, correct or delete. Wildwit follows Apple's privacy rules for children's apps and is designed to meet COPPA (US), India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, the UK Age Appropriate Design Code and GDPR's rules for children.

Your control

In the parent area you can turn the gate off, switch Friends off, or erase all Wildwit data. Deleting the app removes everything stored on that device. Your device's own backup (iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer) may include Wildwit's data, as it does for most apps.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date below before the change takes effect in the app. Questions? Email support-wildwit@zephystudio.com.
