Decode your statement

Who is PADDLE.NET on my card statement?

PADDLE.NET is a payment company that many software makers sell through; the name after it is the app you pay for.

You can look up which product it was, and cancel or ask for a refund, at paddle.net with your email address or the transaction details.

Your card says: Paddle dot net. Who's Paddle?

Tallied knows. It's your Notion subscription, ten US dollars a month, plus a fee for paying abroad.

And every subscription you pay for, in one place.

Tallied. Seven days free.

Shown with invented sample data, including the app and the amount. The narration is a synthetic voice.

Why it says Paddle and not the app

Paddle is what's called a merchant of record: it takes the payment and handles tax for the software company, so your card shows Paddle's name, usually followed by the app's. A charge in US dollars can also bring a separate fee from your bank for paying in a foreign currency.

  1. Go to paddle.net and look up the charge with the email you used or the transaction details.
  2. It shows the product, and lets you cancel or ask for a refund.

How Tallied does it

  • Tallied reads the line, recognises well-known apps by name, and files it under your software subscriptions, on your iPhone.
  • Tallied finds the charges that repeat (weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly), shows when each is next due and whether the price went up, and can remind you before it renews.
  • It needs two or more charges at a steady rhythm, and the next due date is an estimate.
  • Your statements never leave your iPhone; only a shop's name is looked up. No bank login, no account.

Tallied is on the Singapore App Store for iPhone and iPad. 7 days free, then S$6.99 a month or S$59.99 a year.

Questions

Is a PADDLE.NET charge a scam?

Usually not: Paddle sells software for many companies. Look it up at paddle.net to see the product, and ask your bank about anything you still don't recognise.
