Tallied guide
How to find every subscription on your bank statement
Look for charges that come back at a steady rhythm: the same name and a similar amount every week, month, quarter or year.
A full year of card and bank e-statements shows nearly all of them, including yearly renewals and the ones billed under a company name you don't recognise.
By hand
- Download twelve months of e-statements for every card and account. Yearly renewals only show up once a year, so a shorter window misses them.
- Put every line in one spreadsheet and sort by description, so repeats sit next to each other.
- Mark anything that repeats on a steady rhythm, and note its amount each time. A higher amount than last time is a price rise.
- Look twice at names you don't recognise. Some software is billed by a payments company, so the line shows that company's name instead of the app's.
To stop one, cancel it where you signed up: in the app or website, or in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions. Cancelling the card doesn't always cancel the plan.
How Tallied does it
- Tallied finds the charges that repeat (weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly), shows when each is next due and whether the price went up, and can remind you before it renews.
- It needs two or more charges at a steady rhythm, and the next due date is an estimate. Tallied doesn't cancel anything for you.
- Tallied reads PDF e-statements from Singapore banks and cards, credit cards and savings accounts alike. It's been checked most on DBS/POSB; if a statement from your bank doesn't come in, Settings › Statements folder › Check every statement says why.
- Your statements never leave your iPhone; only a shop's name is looked up. No bank login, no account.
Tallied is on the Singapore App Store for iPhone and iPad. 7 days free, then S$6.99 a month or S$59.99 a year.
