Apple Watch meditation workout: why a long sit runs as a Mind and Body workout
To keep tapping your wrist with the arm down, an app on Apple Watch needs a session that stays running. Apple's mindfulness session on the Watch stops after one hour, so for sits that can run longer an app runs as a Mind and Body workout.
Turi does this on the Watch, and discards the workout at the end unless you ask it to keep it.
What Turi does on the Watch
- Each session runs as a Mind and Body workout, so the Watch keeps guiding with your wrist down and your eyes closed.
- It can read your heart rate for each step, and shows your average when your Watch guided.
- The workout is discarded at the end, unless you turn on Save sessions to Fitness as a Mind and Body workout in Settings. That setting is off until you turn it on.
- Every session can go to Apple Health as mindful minutes either way.
Turn on saving to Fitness
- Open Turi on your iPhone and go to Settings.
- Turn on Save sessions to Fitness as a Mind and Body workout.
- Finished sessions are then saved to Fitness.
How Turi does it
- Runs as a Mind and Body workout on Apple Watch so a long sit keeps its taps.
- Saved to Fitness only if you turn that on.
- Mindful minutes in Apple Health for every session, if you allow it.
Turi: Silent Meditation is on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Free to download, with 14 days of everything free.
